Personal financial management is a topic that many people really don't want to touch themselves with a ten foot pole. A lot of the time, the reason for this is that as a society, we're just not taught how to manage our own money. For those of us who are lucky to have extra to invest, we feel that we need to hire a financial advisor or investor to do the work for us.
While that might be helpful, it's not a great plan to simply give up the responsibility for our own portfolio. Since the world runs on money, we all should have a good fundamental knowledge of how the game works.
In this session, Veronica and I speak with Tess Wicks. Like many others, Tess didn't grow up really thinking about money. In fact, the only reason she started learning about the subject was through necessity due to her major and future career.
However, that career didn't last long. After realizing she wasn't cut out of the 9 to 5 world and could help others with their knowledge of money, she set out on a mission to educate.
In our chat, we learn about the illusion of job security, her unique digital nomad lifestyle, and why it's important to set goals in our finances as entrepreneurs.
Having a healthy lifestyle is something that is brought up time and again in pop culture. However, with all the temptations of fast food, taking it easy, and dealing with stress, many people just simply struggle to do what's best for them.

However, once you do figure out how to live healthier and learn how to live a positive mindset, achieving your goals gets that much easier. Main reason why is that you won't constantly feel lethargic and out of energy.
In this session, Andy and I talk with Cyndi Walter who figured out at an early age that looking at the positive side of things makes life not only easier, but more fulfilling as well. Pair that with her experience in the direct sales world since she was in school and it's no wonder that she has the ability to make an impact in the lives of many others - over 40,000 others in fact.
In this conversation with Cyndi, Andy and I get the chance to hear some of the secrets she's used to build an amazing business!

When it comes to achievement in the creative space, you have to put in the actual work to get there. However, we're not just talking about performing a particular skill like you would in a job, though. In fact, it starts with building one's mindset. And one way to work on one's mindset is through the form of practicing mindfulness or perform meditation.
In this session, we're talking to Manuj Aggarwal who knows all about this world. Interestingly enough, when he lived in India, he never had an interest in this knowledge. However, as he moved to the western world, he realized that it had some real benefits.
In this conversation with Manuj, Andy and I have the chance to find out what this journey looked like like for him - including when he realized he needed to start.

Small business accounting is a topic that many entrepreneurs needlessly struggle with when they're getting their feet wet with running a business. For me, I have a simple tracking system of my expenditures. And usually, when it comes to invoicing, I usually opt to get paid on the front end. Outside of that, I really don't have too much to keep track of.
However, I realize I'm not a true representation of most business owners. Most business owners need a platform that can do more than AR/AP. They might need something that takes care of payments and is a CRM on top of that. A one stop location for all of your financial bookkeeping.
That's where Freshbooks comes in.
In our chat today, Matt Baker, VP of Corporate Strategy and International Expansion at Freshbooks, shares with us what numbers of business owners should be paying attention to.
We also discuss the process of de-risking the move to self-employment as well as what he'd recommend to entrepreneurs starting out in the Midwest.

When it comes to peak performance, most experts on the matter suggest that we learn how to care for ourselves, plan, and execute accordingly. However, even the most disciplined of us will have problems from time to time. Whether it's a physical ailment or a mental breakdown, we all have issues from time to time. Thankfully, there's some supplements on the market that can really impact your mental state. In fact, some of them contain some of best nootropics in existence.
If you're not familiar with term nootropics, Veronica and I weren't either before this interview. However, the way that our guest, Prady Tewarie, described them, it almost sounds too good to be true! Something better than coffee?! Blasphemy!
In today's conversation, Prady shares with us his journey in starting his business Azoth, one of the fastest growing nootropic supplement companies today. What's cool to me is that his entire journey in starting his business has been rather organic. He didn't force it by starting a business first and then finding a product. In fact, he did it the way that it should be done.
If starting and growing a business based on your interests is something you're wondering if you should do, let Prady's story inspire you to give it a shot.

For many people, starting a consulting business is something they've thought about doing at one or another. But just like most entrepreneurial endeavours, many don't get started because they don't know the way to find real success. And many times, they don't know anyone who is a "successful" consultant to learn from.
In my experience, there are a few well known names out there that come to mind when you're talking about becoming a decent consultant.
Today's guest is one of those names.
Michael has been a consultant since the age of 19 and since then, he's been honing his craft and helping others along the way.
Since 2007, he and his cousin Sam have empowered 34,000 people from over 80 countries with their company Consulting Success.
To Michael and Sam, success is not about numbers or material gains. Instead, it's about being in a place where money isn't a concern anymore. It's the ability to go out to enjoy a meal or a trip with family. It’s having the certainty you need – in an increasingly uncertain world – to take charge of your future. It's the freedom to live life on your own terms.
If consulting is something you've thought about getting started with, I'd highly suggest getting to know Michael in this chat with Veronica and me.

People get involved in non fiction writing for a number of reasons. In the thought leader space, the number one reason books are created is for their ability to be a lead generator. Many times, they'll be at the front of a sales funnel that leads to higher and higher priced products such as courses and live events.
However, sometimes the book is the end message. And for me, before I got into the content production world, I always thought that was point of a book. The point was to actually increase the awareness of your readers. The book was the end... not the means to an end.
But, as a good authorpreneur knows, you can have the best of both if you really care to make the effort. You can create something of value while at the same time using it as a tool to grow your business.
This session's guest, Lindsay Whiting, is all about helping writers do just that. She finds joy in helping new writers write a good book while at the same time helping them navigate the publishing waters.
If writing a valuable non fiction book is something you've wanted to do and your goal isn't to just be an Amazon Best Seller, then you'll get a lot out of this interview.

Business ownership comes in many forms. The goal of this show has always been to expose the listener to as many ways to start earning 6 or 7 figures a year. In the last session, our guest, Chris Prefontaine, built his income generating machine through real estate investing. In session 150, we had Corbett Barr on who told us about how he managed to make Fizzle from the knowledge he knew about monetizing traffic online.
In this session, I had the chance to speak with an influencer here in the Indianapolis area about his background in various businesses including multi-level marketing (MLM).
As you guys probably know, I've been a fan of properly ran MLM groups for years. For instance, way back in session 23 of the show, Laila and I had the opportunity to interview soon to be Amway Diamond Mark Nathan.
What he and today's guest, Jeff Gamble, can tell you is that a large part of being successful in the network marketing arena is affiliating yourself with great people.
Pair this experience of his with traditional business and the result is someone that knows a lot about what it takes to be successful entrepreneur and leader.
But don't think that this journey of his has been easy. He's had more major setbacks than anyone I know.
Even if you're not interested in getting involved with an MLM company, let his story be one of inspiration to you in whatever you're pursuing.

If you've ever read the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad, you probably know that the author, Robert Kiyosaki gained his wealth in Real Estate Investing (REI). Since the release and rise of popularity of the book, there's been all kinds of methods revealed to the general public about how to make passive income.
There are two passive income quadrants: Investing (I) and Business (B).
When it comes to passive income, we're usually thinking of the B quadrant. For example, most of us are familiar with the thought leader approach. They create content, develop a tribe, and provide services or products to that tribe to help them achieve more. The larger the tribe, the more potential one has of making a good income.
Yet others might be more familiar with drop shipping through eBay or Amazon. Pretty much the same idea, but instead of developing your own tribe, you sell to the customers on those sites. Because of that, you have to share a percentage of what you earn with the company.
A hybrid of both of these is using Facebook ads to get your name out there to Facebook users so that they can convert in your sales funnel.
Again, these are examples of the B quadrant of passive income.
As for the I quadrant, it tends to stay off limits to most people who are seeking passive income.
Mainly because most people think that to work in that quadrant, we have to have money available to invest.
Truth is, that's not necessarily the case.
In fact, today's guest, Chris Prefontaine, has one of the coolest systems I've seen to help people develop wealth in the I quadrant.
In this session of the AoL Podcast, Veronica and I learn how it's indeed possible to build a passive income portfolio without using money from banks or our own pocket.
