When starting a business, many people make building their business as complicated as improving themselves. The thing is that if you have a good business idea, it shouldn't be all that complicated to get results. In fact, there are still plenty of multimillionaires out there that haven't used social media to get their message out there.
That said, you should always be improving yourself. If you're not, then you're automatically going backward.
These concepts are examples which I learned from my Amway group, LTD, back in 2006. While I'm no longer active in the business, I can say that I learned a ton of great fundamentals there.
Likewise, today's guests, Alex and Sarah Dumas, learned quite a bit from their days of being in the MLM (multi-level marketing)/direct sales as well. However, not all of it was awesome.
In fact, in this conversation, you'll hear them talk about how much of what is taught today in MLM's is only part of the story. And more interestingly, much of what's taught to entrepreneurs as a whole - especially hustling 24/7 - might not be the best thing for YOUR business.

They say if you can make it New York, you can make it anywhere. In that same spirit, many people see having a job or a career on Wall Street as a way to launch themselves to success.
This is pretty understandable. Over the years, there have been some movies which illustrated a simple idea. That idea being you can start from meager beginnings and become wealthy beyond your wildest dreams if you make it on Wall Street.
I believe this is the case for this session's guest, Marc Davenport.
Having started his career off on Wall Street, he learned a ton. But he also started to develop a network of influential people. That network has helped him get to where he's at today.

There are many reasons why people become a reanimated creator. Sometimes, they simply see a void in an industry that they're already in and think they can do a better job than the company they're at. Sometimes, a person is laid off and uses the skill that they are professionally known for to make a living on their own. However, there are other times where someone is called to do what they know they're meant to do. They have an internal pull to go a different way than they have their entire career.
For today's guest, that last one description is definitely the case. After a life altering experience, Chris Jordan realized that God had given him a new personal mission. That mission was to empower others to work and live with more confidence and meaning as well.
In this conversation, Harrison and I get to learn how this experience went down and how it's motivated him to not only start his own company but become a local President of Toastmasters as well as the director of the region.

Social media, it's an interesting tool. Most of the world looks at it as a distraction or a way to share with family and friends. However, those of us who are in the entrepreneurial / creative space - we see it as a little bit more than that. Sure, we like to let people know what we're up to, but we also like to share our projects and/or our message.
If you're good at digital marketing, you'll have no problem blending in your personal posts with your business posts. If your business is part of your personal mission, then it's even easier.
Today's guest, Avi Arya, is all about helping companies reach out and connect to native social media users. He travels the world not only as a speaker, but as a consultant.
However, this doesn't define him. This is simply the work he does.
When he's not traveling around the world, he spends as much time as he can with his family, dogs, and doing the things he really enjoys doing.
The key is this: He works to live, not live to work.

Whether that's in audio or video form, doing interviews not only gives you this opportunity, but it allows you to have a platform that you define while at the same time sharing it with someone else.

One of the reasons many people become self employed is because they believe they can have more freedom working for themselves. Whether that's more time for family or the ability to dictate what they do in a given day - they're looking for more autonomy. However, as we get more and more successful, we have a decision to make. Do we want to scale up and bring more onto our team or stay at the level we're at because that's our sweet spot? It's really hard to fight the urge to scale up - especially if part of the way that you measure success is through an increase in income and the ability to buy bigger and better things. But what if finances didn't enter into the equation of success? What if it stayed at what was important to us at the beginning - to do what we want when we want? To succeed in life we're all going to have obstacles get in our way. Sometimes it'll be people telling us we can't do something. Other times it might be a lack of knowledge about a certain topic. Today's guest, Kristian Aleixo, is all about taking obstacles head on. However, he looks at them as challenges. And while he might not necessarily have the solution to dealing with the challenge right away, he doesn't make any excuses and makes it his mission to figure it out. This attitude is helped him in his career as a race car driver. And because of his resilience, he's looking to become an IndyCar racer in the next couple of years. They're not allowed to teach the way that they believe they should. Because of this, the average time that someone works in the public education system as a classroom teacher is 3 years. This is a horrible statistic. That said, students are paying for this lack of competency just as much as teachers are. It's producing people who simply aren't ready for life and the real world. In this session, I talk with author, speaker, and teacher Daniel Blanchard about what's causing this and what can be done about it. Enjoy!

When scaling a business, there are many options that an owner or CEO can take. A lot of times, especially for brick-and-mortar companies, one of the first things that they'll consider is growing their company internationally. However, if they don't consider the culture they're moving into, their effort is certainly going to have issues. This is where today's guest, Angel Ribo, comes in to help. Having helped well over a thousand CEOs during his career, he works on helping companies find ways to benefit the countries that they're considering moving into.
On top of this, he also has a foundation geared towards poverty-stricken kids in Latin America called Wisdom for Kids. As you'll hear in the conversation, teaching kids how to be entrepreneurs with the resources around them is a great way to help dilute the effect of poverty around the world.
