In a an usual time like we're going through right now, it's easy to be hyper responsive to everything that's going on around us. Practicing mindfulness is probably the last thing many folks are thinking about. In fact, I'd go on to say that many people are doing the opposite - they're in a constant state of panic. They're still focused on what we've been through, not where the world is going.
But can you blame them? Many who were hanging on a thread from their day job have found themselves in a lot of hurt right now. Even small business owners and farmers find themselves having to do things they never thought they'd have to.
What I've personally found out is this. If we can manage our stress in stressful times, then new solutions and new ways of looking at the world come more readily. We have to give ourselves room to find our own pandemic pivot. (Plus it always seems to me that survivors in zombie movies tend to see what the masses are doing, and do the opposite!)
In this conversation with Kelly DiNardo, we learn about a time where she herself had to pivot earlier in her career. While it wasn't conveinent at the time, it sure did prep her for future times of adversity.

When it comes to the entrepreneurial mindset, most of the time we hear topics that the new business owner needs to know. It's great to know that there's so much support for folks new to the game. In fact, people like my unofficial mentor Pat Flynn and the crew over at Fizzle have made decent livings on helping these folks. (Which I admire because it's really hard to grow a reputation in this market segment. The market is already saturated and many folks don't or can't pay at this stage in the game.)
However, there is market for entrepreneurs and business owners who have had a bit of success. This is the scaling stage - the stage that Veronica, Andy, myself, and previous cohosts of the show specialize in.
And depending on how they've grown the business to this point, the way that they'll continue to grow is more than likely completely different than what got them to that level of success.
In today's chat with Joe, Veronica and I are reminded that different personalities can build a business so far. It's when you bring other complementary personalities to the table that you can obtain true greatness.

If you're a creator who wants to build awareness, there's not many better ways than to build an online community on one of the social media platforms. Most creators opt for Facebook because it has the largest footprint. However, does that mean it's the best? Does it mean it's the most efficient?
I know for me, I've seen plenty of groups on Facebook that are highly engaged. That's why I started the Facebook Masterminder group there. Unfortunately, I didn't really know what I was doing when I started it, so it's kind of a ghost town. I'm still trying to fix that because, Facebook groups is where it's at in 2016 when it comes to engaged communities on social media. Mirna Bacun begs to differ.
Through doing her work with her SaaS project, Greenpie, she has found a great way to build communities on LinkedIn. When she got into The Foundation, she had very little knowledge of entrepreneurship and possibly even worse, little to no connections when it came to building her list of potential clients. So long story short, she decided that LinkedIn was as good as any other place to build a community for her company. She chose well. In the podcast, she talks about how literally everything she does on LinkedIn is free. Getting on News Feeds, messaging, sending bulletins - all of it. Besides her background and how she got started as entrepreneur, she also talks about her new course and how you can learn just enough about LinkedIn to get a group going yourself and to make thousands in revenue So if you're in need for a community and want to do it in an effective an inexpensive way, then you'll definitely dig this conversation... and then look for her to release her course in February 2016.

Business marketing online is still a bit of a mystery to many business owners. Especially when it comes to LinkedIn.
In the past, we've had interviews with LinkedIn marketing experts Myr Bacun and AJ Wilcox about building groups and advertising on the platform.
Those are great and cool strategies on their own, and I know they work. But it seems that whenever I go to LinkedIn, I'm always being blasted by 3 to 5 messages saying "Hey, nice to connect! Seems we know similar people. Do you need help with...?"
Have you felt that way?
As this session's guest, Devin Johnson puts it, it's simply not the way to do long term business. You lead with relationship first.
So in this interview, we'll learn how Devin and his company Kennected are righting the ship when it comes to making meaningful connections online.

With the coronavirus outbreak, working remotely is starting to become a normal trend. In fact, I'd say it's moved the timeline up by 5 years or more until we see a lot more remote workers. However, not all virtual workers are from first world countries where being able to work remotely is considered a perk. Instead, they reside in countries where they might be in the middle of long term economic crisis. They have learned how to become virtual assistants or VA's so that they can bring in money than they'd get paid in their home country.
To help those folks, today's guest, John Miles, and his partners at iWorker and Optimate, have built a network of VA's around the globe. These aren't just any VA's, though. They are VA's who actually are usually more than capable to handle what us solopreneurs would throw at them. In fact, a lot of them have degrees in the work that they do.
In this interview with John, we find out why he and his partners felt they needed to start down this path and who might benefit from hiring from those in the network.

As we grow more successful, it can be easy for power to go to our heads. We can start to think we're unstoppable. This is especially true on the grand scale when we see ethical issues in business headline the news.
One right now, for example, is the rehabilitation of the Boeing 737 Max line of aircraft. It has turned into an epic crisis in the last couple of years for them as they simply have not done well in addressing the issue. Nor did they really do a great job of mitigating it either. Whoever made the decision to cut corners and create the software which caused a couple to crash, obviously shouldn't have cut those corners.
Another example was back in 2008 when Lehman Brothers had to file for bankruptcy. Out of all the things that went on that year, I still remember watching the news as the threat of that particular crisis grew more inevitable. When it finally did, the market plummeted... as well as the savings and lifestyles of many people who thought they had done things right.
Today's guest, Michael Ainslie, was one of the group of people that had to make the decision to file for Chapter 11. Sure, making the decision was tough, but it was the right thing to do.
Being part of that board hasn't been his only rodeo, however. He was also the CEO of the internationally known auction house Sotheby's. Let's just say they had a few things they had to deal with during his time there as well.
In his new book, A Nose for Trouble, he shares with us how he's been able keep his head through all the adversity in his career.
In this chat, Andy and I get the chance to learn a few things you won't hear on any other interview of his!

Return on Experience and Expertise, or RoEE, is something we all should realize we have. Whether you're more street smart or climbed your way up the twin towers of formal education and the corporate world, you do have experience which can serve not only you, but those around you.
However, that said, it's up to us to realize what expertise can truly help others. Unlike our Passion, we don't get to choose our Purpose and where we fit with others.
However, when we can pair up our Purpose with our Passion, then we have the seeds to greatness. Add it to a unique Process, and we have a winning formula for awesome Profit!
Sound familiar? It should. I shared briefly about the 4 P's of the Ikigai in this blog post recently.
Today's guest, David Bryant, is a prime example of someone who's not only found this sweet spot in his career, but also has been able to take advantage of it. How? By staying humble and learning lessons wherever or from whoever he can.
In this chat, Andy and I get the chance to learn how he's done this over his career and some of the key things he's learned along the way.

When it comes to marriage and family counseling, one would think that the therapist loves to do what they're doing. Why else would they do it? It has to be a super fulfilling job in that you're doing all this great work with couples and helping them make breakthroughs critical to the relationship's survival.
However, just like any other health related position, working with troubled patients can take its toll. It's so easy to take their problems home on top of the all the things that one has to cope with in their own life.
And it's not just the health field - doing anything you love too intensely for a long time can lead to burnout.
This is certainly the truth for this session's guest, Lisa Mustard.
And, in fact, it's one of the reasons that she's started her podcast, The Therapy Show.
In this chat, Veronica and I get the chance to learn how she's been able to package up her own life experiences in two hugely different arenas into what she's doing today. Not only that, but we also discuss the importance of self care regardless of our position.

I can't tell you how many times in college I heard fellow students use the phrase "I'm going to take a nap and wait patiently for death" as a joke. And in reality, for many, life is simply something that has to be endured. However, I fully believe that finding your passion & purpose in life is a huge part of getting out of that life of quiet mediocrity.
Since college, and especially after starting this podcast, I've come to the realization that individuals who have this figured out have overall a lot less stress in their life. Not only that, but they usually have a higher chance of being fulfilled by the work they're doing.
This session's guest, Tommy Breedlove, has gone through it all. From being incarcerated early in life, to working at the C-suite level, to realizing that the more he wrote his own story, the less others controlled it. Today he helps others not only realize that fact for themselves, but helps them find their next level.
In this chat, Andy and I get the chance to learn how he made that realization for himself, how he helps other men find their own way, and some pointers we can all use to start moving the dial a little bit more today.

In general, politics is a topic that people are really engaged in or they want to keep away from it with a 10 foot pole. Personally for me, I'm a bit of a junkie. And in fact, the shows that I tend to listen to engage in political satire. They don't take themselves too seriously.
I love that because it's such a break from the norm. Because when you think of politics today, you often think of this side vs that side. One side is right while the other side is wrong. One side is Trump and on the other side you have the Pelosi lead Democrats.
This wasn't always the case.
Today's guest, Andrew Heaton, is someone I started listening to sometime last year in his last podcast called There's Something Off with Andrew Heaton. That particular show concluded this past summer and since then he's been busy building his own show entitled The Political Orphanage. (He also has a new show called Alienating the Audience , Sci-Fi based show, which we'll talk a bit about in the interview.)
Listen in as Andy and I get a chance to find out from Andrew what his process has been as he's been building his new platform. And what he can share with other creators in regards to getting on the national stage.
Enjoy!
